UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has introduced an easy and completely new way with the intention of preventing fake identification and forgeries of Aadhaar, so that the common man can immediately know the difference between real and fake Aadhaar card.

What is this new trick to Know Adhaar is real or Fake ?

According to UIDAI technical experts, to check the authenticity of Aadhaar, now enter any Aadhaar number on UIDAI's official website or mobile app - and in a few seconds you will be able to know whether that number is real or fake. After clicking on the 'Verify Aadhaar Number' option in the services provided on the website, just enter the Aadhaar number, and the status of the card being valid or invalid appears on the screen.

Why did this need arise?

In the last few years, cases of fraud have been increasing continuously due to fake Aadhaar cards. This was leading to misuse of government schemes, banking fraud and threat to the personal security of citizens. In view of this challenge, UIDAI has made public the facility of rapid verification for common citizens, institutions and departments.

  • Banks and financial institutions can do instant and accurate verification at the time of transaction.
  • Common citizens can instantly check the authenticity of Aadhaar before paying rent, loan, or any documentary transaction.

Journey of Aadhaar and role of UIDAI

The Aadhaar project, which started in 2010, has today become the digital identity of more than 120 crore Indians. It is the backbone of the Digital India mission, in which security and digitalization are being given the highest priority. With this new verification tool, UIDAI has shown that they consider the security of the general public as their top priority.

What next ?

Experts believe that this innovation can stop the misuse of Aadhaar in future, as well as the schemes run by the government will be able to reach the right people easily. UIDAI is committed to continuously making its services secure, fast and useful for the general public.
