Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge sales lower than expected, company reduces production

New Delhi, June 20, 2025. Samsung launched its thinnest flagship phone Galaxy S25 Edge in the smartphone market last month. It was expected that this phone would make a splash in the market. The company introduced it as the "Future of Slim" with features like 5.8 mm ultra-slim body, light weight and 6.7-inch QHD + display. But this phone could not attract customers and Samsung company had to cut production drastically.

What is the specialty of Galaxy S25 Edge?

Galaxy S25 Edge was launched by Samsung as the thinnest and lightest phone of its S series. It includes features like 200MP primary camera, AI-powered ProVisual engine, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display (120Hz refresh rate), and IP68 rating. Talking about the design, this phone is really attractive and its build quality is also premium.

Why did the Galaxy S25 Edge not attract customers?

Samsung did innovate in the design and camera of the Galaxy S25 Edge, but many big compromises had to be made in order to make the phone ultra-slim body. Like a relatively small battery of 3,900mAh, fast wired charging could not do quickly, and the absence of a telephoto camera did not suit the consumers. Indian customers who want a camera and more battery backup did not find the starting price of $1,100 (starting at ₹1,09,999 in India) value for money.

What did the experts say?

Despite the ultra-slim body design of Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge, the cut in battery and camera features was not liked by the customers. On the other hand, tough competition like Apple iPhone 16 and Google Pixel 10 in the premium segment was also a challenge for Samsung.

Decline in sales of Galaxy S25 Edge!

Usually flagship phones sell well in the first three months after launch, but the sales of Galaxy S25 Edge started falling in the very first month.

When will S26 Plus return?

According to the strategy of Samsung, the maker of Galaxy S25 Edge, if the sales of S25 Edge were good, then S26 Edge would have been included in the lineup next year instead of S26 Plus. But now the return of S26 Plus is almost certain.

market analysis

  • Design of Galaxy S25 Edge.

The slim and premium design of Galaxy S25 Edge won the hearts of the customers, but the cut in battery and camera features was not liked by the customers.

  • Price

For Indian customers, Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 Edge with a starting price of $1,100 (starting at ₹1,09,999 in India).

  • Marketing

Samsung also offered attractive pre-order offers, but even this marketing could not increase the pace of sales.

What will Samsung do next?

Amid the decline in sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung is now increasing the production of its foldable phone lineup (Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7). It is doing this for the US market. The company wants to send as many units as possible before the tariffs are implemented in the US market.

Samsung tried to redefine the ultra-slim smartphone through the Galaxy S25 Edge, but the market rejected it. Customers praised the design, but the cut in features and the high price put a brake on its sales. Now all eyes are on Samsung's upcoming flagship Galaxy S26 series, which will decide whether the company will be able to maintain its dominance in the premium smartphone segment or not?
