Indian Railways has brought a new rule for ticket booking. The reservation window will now give priority to passengers using their own ID.
For the first 15 minutes, after the booking window opens, tickets can be booked only with personal ID. This means that agents will not be able to block large numbers of tickets in that period.
The Railway Ministry said this rule is important for fair booking. Many passengers faced problems earlier because agents booked many tickets at once.
With this change, genuine passengers will get a better chance to book tickets at the opening time. Indian Railways believes this step will improve transparency and reduce monopoly of agents.
Passengers are advised to keep their personal ID ready while booking. This will help them book quickly in the first window of 15 minutes
